Woodwork built to outlast the trend

ALT Services started the way most things do out here — a problem, and no money to pay someone else to fix it. A workbench, a used table saw, and enough scrap maple to get through a Montana winter. That was the whole operation for the first couple years.

We still work the same way. Ash, maple, basswood — whatever comes off a mill nearby with good grain in it. Every board gets sanded by hand before it sees any finish, because the wood tells you when it's ready and a machine can't hear that part.
